Sneak Peak // The Pacione Family

Share It:

We thought for sure that Tropical Storm Bonnie was going to spoil this maternity shoot. We were texting late last night trying to figure our what we'd do if it was a wash-out....especially with Anaya's due date looming and the prospect of rain every day over the next week. But!!! We woke up to sunshine and all worked out perfectly:)

I'll be posting much more next weekend....but until then, here's a sneak peak!
Have a beautiful Sunday everyone <3

My Norfolk // The Neon District

Share It:

People are always asking me.....why do you live in Norfolk? Isn't it dangerous? Ummm....sure. Any city is going to be dangerous. Even small, country, 1 stop-light towns in rural America are going to be dangerous. It's all about knowing your town, carefully choosing where you will live and being aware of your surroundings.

I've lived in Norfolk since 1994 (except for 2 years in MD) and I honestly can't imagine living anywhere else right now. Especially during the Spring! Our city comes alive during the warmer months and it's so incredibly pretty! A photographer's dream canvas at times. So, this morning, when my cat decided that 6:30am was an appropriate time to walk all over my face and make sure I was up and at em....I ventured out to the Neon District on Granby Street and shot some images of the fantastic wall murals decorating the area. NEON stand for New Energy Of Norfolk and the area is made up of pop-up shops, galleries, food vendors and live performances. It's an artists haven and a really wonderful place.

This is part 1 of a new series I'll be highlighting on the blog....My Norfolk. I want to share the beauty of my city with everyone and dispel the rumors that it's ugly and dangerous. It's SO not:) If you are lucky enough to visit our lovely mermaid city, definitely try to work your way over to Granby Street and check out the talent and beauty that is there. You won't be disappointed!!!

What's Up May?!

Share It:

Happy Friday beautiful people! Sorry I didn't post anything during the week....I've been dealing with some pretty debilitating headaches as of late. I'd get home at night and put an ice-pack on my head and lay down. Not sure what's happening there....my guess is a combination of stress and weather changes. But, I'm feeling better today and thought I'd share a May list....

MAKING - Plans to road-trip to the OBX in the next few weeks....

CRAVING - Soda. I've cut back 99% and some days it's harder than others to resist...

PLAYING - A lot of country music on my XM Sirius radio.....I don't get it either?!

LISTENING TO -  Besides the country music....JT's new song on repeat. All. The. Time.

READING - Elizabeth Gilbert's BIG MAGIC!

WATCHING - Alllllll the Nicholas Sparks movies. I have a guilty obsession over them ;)

WEARING - Sweaters still. WTH? Come on Spring....time to show up.

LEARNING - How to better react to other people's moods.

GOING TO - Re-open my Etsy shop this summer! So excited to share my images with you!!

WORKING ON - Getting my photography site back up and running and taking on new clients!

OBSESSED WITH - My clarisonic. Seriously saving my face.....

PLANNING - To wash two cats this weekend.... Wish me luck!

EXCITED FOR - Summer visits to New Bern and visiting beautiful Beaufort again!

HOPING - That summer isn't too heinous this year and doesn't stick around into the Fall.

STARTING - To think that all the good shows on TV are going away. Case in point, this one.

So, what fun things have you been up to this month?
Comment and let me know:)

Life Lately

Share It:

Happy Saturday!!! Was it a good week? Did it go by quickly or did it dragggggg? Mine was a little bit of both. Monday thru Wednesday flew by...but then it seemed like Thursday and Friday lasted 7 days:/ What's that all about? Needless to say, I'm super excited for this weekend:) It's still a little chilly here in Coastal Virginia (such a nice winter we're having this spring;) and very overcast. We've had rain for days and although it's ended...the cloud cover is still there. I'm spending this Saturday cleaning my house, doing a little grocery shopping and then settling in for a movie later.

The past week...though rainy, was still able to produce some really pretty and fun images for my Instagram. I started the week off with a delicious fruit smoothie and some roses from Trader Joes! The cats were both cuddly and posers...such goofs:) I had a post end of last week about my time in New Bern, NC and then by Thursday I found myself dreaming of a day at the beach. Ahhhhh, sunshine on my skin...I cannot wait! I spend some time with my nephew Watson, who loves a good tennis ball. The sunset on a recent drive home was so beautiful:) And of course throughout the week, I enjoyed my daily coffee and the meme about pouring it over my whole life really spoke to me!

Have a great weekend friends!

Norfolk Botanical Gardens { Lantern Asia Exhibit }

Share It:

One of the things that I want to do more of in 2016 is visit local attractions. It's easy to get caught up in your jammers and Netflix on the weekend and before you know it....BOOM...it's Monday.

<<womp, womppp>>

When the Lantern Asia exhibit came to Norfolk's Botanical Gardens this spring...I knew it was going on the list. Yes, there's a list. Just you wait and see.... So, I wrangled together my steadfast posse and we made an evening of it complete with dinner before hand (Heyyyy No Frill Grill!!!) and coffee from WAWA afterwards:)

And it was worth it! Such a beautiful art installation that is best viewed right before sunset and then again after dark. We arrived at the gardens around 6pm and you'll see from the pictures that the sun was starting to sink in the sky. It cast a beautiful glow across the brightly colored silk lanterns and sparkled among the trees....just lovely! Then, by the time we finished the first circuit it was dark and we knew we needed to go around again and view the lights in total darkness. Magical, I tell ya!

Lucky for you, if you live close to the 757 you still have 4 more days to enjoy this event...they've extended the exhibit through Mother's Day! Just make sure you buy your tickets online before going...you'll save money:)  Turns out that there's high demand for this coming weekend and online sales are now SOLD OUT! So, you'll have to buy your tickets at the gardens the day of...get there early!!!! And enjoy :)
